Fire Curtains (or Barrier systems) are required to inhibit the spread of flames, heat and smoke through concealed spaces in buildings. Some systems can also improve sound reduction within the building.
The systems are generally applied as a hanging curtain secured to the soffit at its head. If the Fire Barrier is to form a continuation within a void of a fire resistant wall/partition, it is essential to fix the barrier to the wall/partition head to maintain integrity.
Fire Barriers should Satisfy the requirements of the Building Regulations 1991 (2000 edition). Approved Document B for cavity barriers.
